Tropicana Field is a permanently domed stadium in St. Petersburg, Florida. Given the Tampa Bay region’s hot, humid summers and frequent thunderstorms, local leaders believed a stadium with a dome was the best solution. It is the only MLB stadium with a permanent dome, as all other teams without an open air ballpark opted for retractable roofs instead.
