TQL Stadium is an open-air soccer stadium located in Cincinnati, Ohio. It stands as the home pitch for FC Cincinnati and is known for its modern design. Cincinnati experiences hot and humid summers, making seating choice a crucial matchday decision. Fans attending games at TQL Stadium should use this guide and seating chart to find the best shaded seats at TQL Stadium.

Where are the seats in the shade and sun at TQL Stadium?

Typically, shaded seats at TQL Stadium are situated:

  • Along the west sideline
  • In the upper-levels behind the south goal line

Conversely, sunny seats are predominantly found:

  • Along the east sideline

Matches at TQL Stadium usually kick off in the evening, but mid-day and early afternoon matches are mixed into the schedule too. Due to Ohio’s position in the eastern time zone, Cincinnati has late sunsets, and particularly in the summer the sun may shine well into evening matches.

TQL Stadium Orientation to the Sun

The stadium’s northwest-to-southwest orientation means the sun is almost directly above the south goal line in the 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM hour. Over the course of the afternoon the sun slowly descends behind the west side of the stadium. It eventually sets near the north goal line.

The graphic below shows the approximate location of the sun throughout the day on July 1st.

Seats in the Sun and Shade at Afternoon TQL Stadium Matches

TQL Stadium, akin to other soccer-specific stadiums built in the same era, features seating on all four sides of the pitch with a hollow rectangular roof covering sections on each side. While having a roof is preferable to completely exposed seating, the sun’s position throughout the day means that some sections receive more shade than others.

For 1:00 PM games, the most shade is behind the south goal line in sections 225-231, where the roof provides direct cover. Seats closer to the pitch in sections 125-131 may start sunny but will become shaded as the match progresses. On the west sideline, club seats in W1-W9, along with sections 101-102 and 133-134, are mostly shaded, although the front rows may start the game in the sun.

The sunniest seats are on the east sideline, particularly in sections E1-E7, 113-114, and 122-133. Upper-level sections 214-222 are partially under the roof, meaning that while some seats may be shaded, others, depending on their exact row and the sun’s position, could be directly in the sun’s path.

Seats in the Sun and Shade at Evening TQL Stadium Matches

By early evening, the entire west sideline and the south goal line of the stadium will be shaded. The east sideline sections E1-E7, 113-114, and 122-133 will remain sunny until the sun is low enough to be blocked by the stadium on the opposite side. Additionally, those with sensitive eyes should exercise caution in sections 213-224, as these seats will face the sun for part of the game.
