As a general rule, the seats in the shade at Suncorp Stadium are:
- North End: Shaded for most of the day
- West Sideline: Shaded by mid-afternoon and in the evening
- Under Cover: Upper-level sections on all sides are covered and shaded
And the seats in the sun at Suncorp Stadium are mainly:
- East Sideline: Sunny especially in the lower and middle levels
- South End: Sun soaked at field-level

Suncorp Stadium has a slightly off-axis north-to-south orientation. In Brisbane, the sun arcs across the northern sky: it reaches its high point between 11:00 AM and noon, then dips behind the west side of the stadium and sets toward the southwest. Seats in the Sun and Shade at Afternoon Suncorp Stadium Matches
Suncorp Stadium is a rectangular venue with seating on all four sides. The roof covers most sections but leaves quite a few pitch-level seats exposed to the elements. As the sun shifts through the day, even some covered areas get more shade than others. Matches and events are usually scheduled for late afternoon or early evening. Occasionally, events starting at 2:00 PM or earlier are mixed into the schedule. For these early-arvo starts, seats at the north end are best positioned for shade.
By 3:00 PM the sun sits to the west. On the west sideline, lower-level seats in sections 301-305 and 338-340 and upper-level seats in sections 601-604 and 638-640 are comfortably shaded, as are the corporate suites between them. On the east sideline, the upper rows of sections 717-726 are generally shaded by the roof, but as the afternoon progresses the sun reaches more rows.
The sunniest seats are closer to the pitch on the east sideline. Lower-level sections 317-326 and middle-level sections 517-526 are particularly sunny. In mid-afternoon the sun’s position lets rays come through the stadium opening. Sections 717-726 offer shade early in the afternoon, but eventually more seats move into the sun’s path. Behind the south end, sections 308-314 and 508-514 get sun for parts of the afternoon, while 707-712 are generally deep enough under the roof to stay shaded, though on the very longest summer days they can still catch some low-angle sun right before sunset. If you’re seeking shade behind the goals, prefer the north end over the south end.

By early evening, the entire west sideline and the areas behind both the north and south ends are in shade. On the east sideline, sections 317-326 and 517-526 stay sunny until the sun drops low enough to be blocked by the opposite stand.
