DRV PNK Stadium (pronounced Drive Pink) is a soccer-specific stadium located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It serves as the interim home venue for Inter Miami CF until their permanent home in Miami is complete. It is also the home pitch for Inter Miami CF II of MLS Next Pro. DRV PNK is an exciting place to catch a match, but fans coming to see Inter Miami during the Messi era will need to be extremely cognizant of where seats in the shade and sun are located. South Florida is one of the hottest and most humid parts of the USA and large sections of seats at DRV PNK lack protection from the sun!

Where are the seats in the shade and sun at DRV PNK Stadium?

As a general rule, the seats in the shade at DRV PNK Stadium are located:

  • Along the west sideline
  • In the very back of the east side sections directly covered by a canopy roof

And the seats in the sun at DRV PNK Stadium are located:

  • Along the east sideline
  • Behind both goals

Most soccer matches at DRV PNK Stadium kick off in the evening, though there are occasional daytime events as well. Even if you’re planning to attend an evening game, the long summer days in South Florida mean you need to be aware of the position of the sun no matter the start time.

DRV PNK Stadium Orientation to the Sun

DRV PNK Stadium is oriented in a north to south direction. By 1:00pm the sun is high in the sky southeast of the stadium. Over the course of the afternoon the sun dips down behind the west side of the stadium structure and eventually sets closer to the north goal line.

The graphic below shows the approximate location of the sun throughout the day on July 1st.

Seats in the Sun and Shade at Afternoon DRV PNK Stadium Matches

Afternoon starts are rare for MLS matches; they are not unheard of for Next Pro events. In the early afternoon there are more seats in the sun at DRV PNK Stadium than in the shade. Unlike other soccer venues that have four canopies, this stadium only has two. This means that seats behind both the north and south goals are exposed to the hot Florida sun for a large chunk of the afternoon.

Your best bet for shade during an afternoon match is on the west side of the stadium. Try to go for a seat in sections 105-128. The roof will provide cover for rows in the back, and as the sun rotates around and behind the stadium it will extend shade over the closer rows as well.

Seats in the very back rows of the east side sections 112-121 may get some shade from the canopy roof but it depends on a lot of variables like exact time or day and day of year. If you are OK with sitting in an upper-level section the west side is a safer bet than the east.

Seats in the Sun and Shade at Evening DRV PNK Stadium Matches

The decision is a bit easier if you’re seeking shade for an evening game: choose a seat on the west side of the stadium. Sections 105-128 will be safe from the sun during during an evening kickoff. Be careful with east side sections 112-121. During the longest days of summer in June and July the sun in South Florida doesn’t set until well after 8:00pm. That means even for a 7:30pm start you might be starting directly into the sun until halftime! Seats behind the north and south goal lines may be in the sun but at least you won’t have to strain your eyes staring into the sun.
