The Jacksonville Jaguars play their home games at TIAA Bank Field (formerly EverBank Field) on the banks of St. Johns River. Like the other NFL franchises in Florida, the Jaguars don’t have a permanent or retractable roof at their home stadium. Without AC to stay cool, fans will want to know where the seats in the shade are located because it gets hot in Florida! Use this article in combination with the TIAA Bank Field seating chart to find the seats in the sun and shade.
Where are the seats in the shade and sun at TIAA Bank Field?
As a general rule, the seats in the shade at TIAA Bank Field are located:
- In the south end zone
- In the last 2 or 3 rows of 200-level sections
And the seats in the sun at TIAA Bank Field are located:
- On the visitor side of the field
- In the 400-level sections
Most NFL games at TIAA Bank Field kick off in the 1:00pm hour with the occasional night game or late afternoon start. College games played at TIAA Bank Field can have later afternoon kickoffs depending on the NCAA schedule. For specific details about sections and start times, read on.
TIAA Bank Field Orientation to the Sun
TIAA Bank Field is oriented in a northeast to southwest direction. By noon the sun is high in the sky near the southwest end zone. Over the course of the afternoon the sun dips down behind the video board and eventually sets near the corner where the home side meets the south end zone.
The graphic below shows the approximate location of the sun throughout the day on October 1st.

Seats in the Sun and Shade at Early Afternoon Jaguars Games
Let’s get this out of the way… there are not many shaded seats at TIAA Bank Field. This is unfortunate because the first few weeks of the season are hot in Florida. Fans don’t have much relief from the sun unless they’re lucky enough to have seats for a luxury box and can watch from inside. Almost every seat in the stadium is exposed to the elements. There is no canopy or overhang to give fans shade or cover like at other ballparks and stadiums.
It is possible to find a seat under cover in the 2 or 3 rows farthest back in the 200-level. However, there is minimal overhang from the upper deck so don’t count on these to provide much cover. The best bet for finding shade is to pick a seat in the south end zone. Sections 146-150 will eventually get some shade over the course of the afternoon as the sun dips behind the video board. Seats farther from the field in these sections will get shade sooner than seats closer to the field.

Seats in the Sun and Shade at Late Afternoon Jaguars Games
When the Jaguars or a college team kick off later in the afternoon, shade is a bit easier to find. Early in the game the 146-150 sections in the south end zone should all be shaded. Eventually 100-level and 200-level sections on the home side of the field will get some shade as well, starting with sections 101 and 201 and going up sequentially.
