Where are the shaded seats at Las Vegas Ballpark?

As a general rule, the seats in the shade at Las Vegas Ballpark are located:

• Behind Home Plate: Shaded by mid-afternoon
• 3rd Base Line: Shaded in the late afternoon and evening
• Under Cover: Some club seats and suites are covered and shaded

Las Vegas Ballpark Orientation to the Sun

Las Vegas Ballpark is oriented with home plate facing northeast. In the morning, the sun rises over center field, gradually moves toward home plate by midday and ultimately sets behind the third base stands near the left field foul pole. For the majority of games this configuration makes the third base side the “shade side” and the first base side and outfield the sunny spots.

Seats in the Shade at Aviators Afternoon Games

When first pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m., shade dynamics are challenging to navigate at Las Vegas Ballpark. The sun is still rising along the first baseline. It reaches its peak in the sky around 1 p.m., at which time only seats under cover are reliably shaded.

Shade seekers willing to splurge should focus on seats on the club level (200 level). Club seats behind home plate sit under a small roof. Sections 209-214 provide a great vantage point and are shaded at this time of day. Be careful with sections 201-205 and 217-221. These club-level seats are beyond the scope of the roof and exposed to the sun.

On the main concourse level, shade can be found in rows farthest from the field. The last few rows of sections 110-112 are covered by the overhang from the club level. The angle of the sun combined with the overhang makes these a good choice to stay out of the sun. On the baselines, slightly more seats at the back of first base sections will be shaded at the start of the game. However, as the sun crosses the sky, first base seats will become sunny while seats at the back of the third base side will start to become shaded over the course of the game. Shade seekers who want to sit on a baseline need to decide if they prefer shade at the start or end of the game.

The sunniest seats are those closest to the field. The front half of sections 101-121 is sun-soaked for the entirety of a 12:05 p.m. game. Similarly, outfield sections 122-127 as well as the pool area and berm are in the direct path of the desert sun.

Seats in the Shade at Aviators Evening Games

In Las Vegas, the sun typically sets by 8 p.m., even during the summer. The Aviators typically start their games at 7:05 p.m. and sometimes at 6:05 p.m., meaning several innings are played in daylight. At first pitch, the sun will be positioned behind the third base side of the stadium, keeping most fans along the third baseline and behind home plate shaded, regardless of their proximity to the field. Shade seekers should focus on sections 110-121 and 217-221.

The first base line is more of a mixed bag. Seats closer to home plate will enjoy shade earlier than those out toward the right field foul pole. The sunniest seats are in sections 101-104 in right field and 122-127 behind the left field wall. Fans in these sections as well as in the pool area and berm should expect full sun through sunset.
