Where are the shaded seats at Ford Field?
Ford Field replaced Pontiac Silverdome from a past era of domed stadiums. The orientation of Ford Field places the end zones on the east and west sides of the building. Above both end zones, and above the suites on the south side of the stadium, large glass windows allow natural light from outside to make the stadium feel more open and less stuffy. The roof itself is opaque, and the windows only allow a limited amount of sunlight through. Think of it like the roof and windows on your home. Windows allow daylight into the space but you clearly still feel indoors.
For those particularly sensitive to the sun, the sections most likely to receive some rays are on the south sideline and west end zone. Sections 111-131, 215-235, and 315-336 are sheltered by the roof and far enough from the windows to avoid any direct sunlight.

Ford Field has large windows that allow daylight inside but most seats are not in the path of the sun.
