- Under Cover: Highest rows directly beneath sideline roofs offer the most reliable shade
And the seats in the sun at Coopers Stadium are mainly:
- East Sideline: Especially the lower pitch-level rows

Seats in the Sun and Shade at Afternoon Coopers Stadium Matches
Coopers Stadium is a rectangular venue with seating on all four sides. Premium seating is concentrated on the west sideline, with standard seating on the east sideline and behind the ends. Both sidelines now have a canopy that extends toward the pitch and covers most seats except those closest to the pitch. Sections behind the north and south ends are uncovered and exposed to the elements. Cover isn’t the only factor for shade, because the sun shifts through the day, even some covered sections get more shade than others.
Matches and events at Coopers Stadium are usually scheduled for late afternoon or early evening. On the rare occasions when events start around lunchtime, your best chance for shade is to sit directly under cover. Along the sidelines, sections E1-E9 and WU1-WU7 are covered and shaded early in the day when the sun is high. Pitch-level sections and those behind both ends are uncovered and sunny.
By 4:00 PM the sun is in the west. On the west sideline, upper-level sections WU1-WU7 sit squarely under the canopy and are the best bet for consistent shade. Suites and sections WL9-WL25 are also good options for shade. Pitch-level sections WL1-WL8 may be sunny in the mid-afternoon, but by late afternoon they become shaded as the sun dips behind the west stand. On the east sideline, the sun creeps up from the lowest rows to the highest; your best chance for shade on the east is under cover in the upper half of sections E1-E9.
The sunniest seats are closer to the pitch on the east sideline. Lower-level sections E10-E18 are in the direct path of the sun. The lower half of sections E1-E9 is sunny as well. Seats behind both the north and south ends are sunny, though late in the afternoon they become shaded as the shade line crosses the pitch.

By early evening, the entire west sideline is in shade. As the sun dips behind the stadium, the stand casts a shadow that progressively makes its way across the pitch. Seats behind the north and south ends become shaded once it reaches them.
On the east sideline, sections E10-E18 remain sunny until the shade line arrives. During the longest days of the Aussie summer, even the top rows of sections E1-E9 can catch a dose of sun immediately before sunset.
