Camping World Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in the heart of Orlando, Florida. It is currently best known as the home venue for major college football games, including the Florida Classic, Citrus Bowl, and the Pop-Tarts Bowl. It has also hosted the NFL’s Pro Bowl on several occasions. Additionally, Camping World Stadium has been used for international soccer matches, including events during the 1994 World Cup, the 1996 Olympics, and the FIFA Club World Cup. Where are the seats in the shade and sun at Camping World Stadium?

As a general rule, the seats in the shade at Camping World Stadium are located:

• South Goal Line: Shaded early in the afternoon
• West Sideline: Shaded later in the afternoon

And the seats in the sun at Camping World Stadium are located:

• East Sideline: Sunny from early afternoon to sunset
• North Goal Line: Exposed to the sun for most of the day

Games at Camping World Stadium can kick off at just about any time during the day. Unlike stadiums that host professional teams with regular schedules, Camping World Stadium primarily hosts major events that align with national television schedules. Coordinating your seat choice with the start time is critical if you’re looking for shade.

Camping World Stadium Orientation to the Sun

Camping World Stadium is oriented in a north to south direction. By 1:00 p.m., the sun is high in the sky southeast of the stadium. Over the course of the afternoon, the sun dips down behind the west side of the stadium structure and eventually sets closer to the north goal line.

Seats in the Sun and Shade at Early Afternoon Camping World Stadium Games

Camping World Stadium dates all the way back to the 1930s but has been renovated several times over the years. Unlike the more modern Inter&Co Stadium down the street, Camping World Stadium does not use overlapping tiers, so there are no seats directly located under the section above. It also does not have any canopies or roofs to provide physical cover. A future renovation may add these to the stadium, but for now, fans are heavily exposed to the elements.

That’s all to say that shade is sparse early in the afternoon. The best shot at landing a shaded seat is to pick a section behind the south goal line. Fans won’t be able to see the scoreboard without turning around, but the benefit is that the scoreboard provides some physical protection from the sun’s rays. Plaza level sections P18-P24 are the most likely to be in the shade. Field level sections 119-123 may be shaded in some rows, but the closer to the field you are, the more likely you are to be in the sun.

Seats in the Sun and Shade at Late Afternoon Camping World Stadium Games

Finding shade is a bit easier and more straightforward by late in the afternoon. For a game that starts between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm, prioritize sections on the west sideline. Field level sections 129-139 should all be safely shaded. The same goes for club level sections P28-P40. Fans in terrace level sections 227-241 will have the sun at their backs, though it may take longer for these sections to become completely shaded than for lower level sections.

The sunniest seats are all on the east sideline. Field level sections 103-113, plaza level P02-P14, and terrace level 201-215 face directly into the sun. Seats behind the north goal line may start the game sunny and end in the shade, depending on the exact start time. If you’re choosing between the north and south goals for shade, the south side is the better choice.

Seats in the Sun and Shade at Evening Camping World Stadium Games

Fans have a much easier time finding a shaded seat for an evening game. However, sunset in Orlando isn’t until well after 8:00 PM during the longest days of summer, so seat choice is still critical. By evening, shade is relatively easy to find: sections 129-139, P28-P40, and 227-241 will be mostly sun-free. Goal line sections 119-123, 145-149, P18-P24, and P44-P50 will be safely shaded in the evening as well.

As the shade moves across the pitch, seats on the east side at field level will become shaded first, followed by the plaza level. Seats in the terrace level stay sunny the longest. Fans on the east sideline will get a blast of evening sun in their eyes just before it dips low enough to be completely blocked before sunset.
